Abstract : In shield tunnel construction , shield tunneling reception is a critical process with extremely high safety requirements . The shield tunnel receives on large slopes and small curves , and conventional receiving methods involves high risks . Achieving safe and sta- ble receiving is a challenging problem that needs to be addressed in this type of project. Based on a shield tunneling project of Beijing Rail Transit system , and considering the special conditions of the shield tunneling machine passing through unfavorable geological con- ditions , such as fine sand on steep slopes and small curves , the steel sleeve receiving process and the reinforcement measures of glass fiber reinforced retaining piles are adopted to control construction risks . The steel sleeve is arranged in a tangent direction to receive , effectively avoiding safety risks caused by the special linear shape of the shield tunnel. At the same time , the shield tunneling construc- tion parameters are adjusted reasonably to ensure the stability of the end soil. The engineering results indicate that the key technology for receiving steel sleeves in shield tunneling with large slopes and small curves has good engineering effects , and the research results can provide reference for such projects .
