1.Exploration of high-strength grain oriented electrical steel with copper precipitation as unique inhibitor

Author: REN Huiping;MAO Weimin

Abstract:

Based on the potential demand for the development of the electrical industry, especially the electric vehicle industry,high-strength grain oriented electrical steel has inevitably become a new direction for the development of grain oriented electrical steels. However, the dual requirements in terms of magnetism and strength have to face certain challenges to the development of related technologies. It is indicated that high-purity ferrite alloyed by copper as a single element can achieve significant aging strengthening which leads to high plasticity and comprehensive mechanical properties, and the Cu precipitation particles in Fe-3% Si ferrite alloyed by copper as a single element, can act as inhibitors to promote the formation of strong Goss texture and obtain excellent magnetic properties. In view of this, the design concept of Fe-3% Si-Cu ferrite with three element composition containing copper precipitation as only inhibitor is proposed for the high strength grain oriented electrical steel, which not only greatly simplifies the steel composition as well as chemical metallurgy and physical metallurgy processes, but also the highest temperature in the production process does not exceed 1 100℃,omitting high energy consuming links such as the ultra-high temperature hot rolling reheating,as well as the high-temperature long-term annealing for purifying the steel sheet body,of the traditional oriented electrical steels. Therefore,high-strength grain oriented electrical steel with copper precipitation as only inhibitor is expected to develop into a new type of electrical steel product that give attention to both of high strength and high magnetism, has low cost, meets future market demand, and is suitable for the production of existing ordinary equipment in most steel enterprises.
