Abstract:
In order to remove erbium ions at low concentrations in water by simple and rapid adsorption, this study used heptadecyl bisphosphonic acid with a P—C—P backbone as a complexing agent and investigated its properties of complexing erbium ions at different temperatures. The results show that in the initial stage of the reaction, the erbium ions were exchanged with the hydrogen ions in the bisphosphonic acid rapidly, prompting the pH of the reaction system to drop from ~7 to ~3.2, and Ion exchange reaction will reach equilibrium in ~30 min; in the temperature range of 3.5~40 ℃, the adsorption reaction rate was faster and the adsorption amount was larger as the temperature increased, and the maximum adsorption amount was 367.53 mg/g at 40 ℃. The adsorption efficiency can reach 99.90%, which indicates that the heptadecyl bisphosphonic acid has the advantages of fast reaction, high efficiency and simple operation for the adsorption and removal of erbium ions in water. This study provides theoretical reference for the rapid removal of other low concentration soluble Rare Earth ions(such as holmium, lutetium, yttrium, etc.) in water.
