Experimental study on dephosphorization of niobium-bearing hot metal by BaO-based flux

Abstract: Experiments on the dephosphorization of niobium-bearing hot metal were carrired out using BaO based flux． The oxidation behavior of niobium in the niobium-bearing hot metal during dephosphorization process was explored，and the effect of oxidizer addition ，flux type and temperature on the oxidation of phosphorus and niobium was investigated． The experimental results show that the oxidation of niobium takes place in the dephosphorization process of hot metal．
